Brza Palanka is a modern settlement, built in the time of a construction of the Second Djerdap dam, in order to enable the inhabitants to move out from the old Brza Palanka which was sunken, and to settle in the new one. The great removal of the settlement was made in mid 80’s and new traffic facilities, docks, trade center, school and residential buildings were built. The monuments in honor to Serbian warriors from the Balkan wars as well as from the First Word War were transferred together with significant ethno items and pictures. Part of this collection is related to a service of the founder of Serbian literacy, Vuk Stefanović Karadžić in this place. All this is exhibit in ethno houses situated along the Danube’s promenade. Within the tourist offer, there is a huge artificial beach, motel and high quality restaurant service. Modern trade center provides opportunities for good supply, especially in case if you intend to continue navigating (downstream Vidin in Bulgaria is the first settlement with the satisfactory shops, easy for approach for the sailors). For fans of the elite hunting tourism, Brza Palalnka offers possibilities to go to famous hunting areas: Deli Jovan, Vratna and Alia. Besides the nature of the extraordinary beauty, tourists will have the opportunity to meet capital samples of dears, mouflons and other games.

Vratnjanska kapija (Vratnjanska Gate) is a natural stone bridge, above the river Vranjani. We assume that it was created by the river that first run as a subterranean, and some parts sank, or that the river bed took over the cave, and due to erosion the cave’s roof fall down. There are three gates out of which the first one called Mala Prerast has 30 meters height and 10 meters width, the second one is Velika prerast, 40 meters high and 20 meters wide, while the third one is smaller than the other two and is 1 km away from them. Although away from the Danube, the gates are a natural phenomenon that together with the environment offers an extraordinary sensation. In order to arrive to the gates one must organize land transport in Brza Palanka, until the village Vratna and the Monastery which has the same name.

The Monastery Vratna was built in the 14th century, and not far from it, there is a Mountain house with 20 beds for accommodation. From Brza Palanka, the Danube goes towards South, and at 876 km it is divided into two branches by the large island Mare. The branch Mali Dunav is closed at his upper end, in order to facilitate the accumulation of water in the lake.
