Vrata is a village administrated by Garla Mare commune. The commune Garla Mare has two village: Garla Mare and Vrata. The commune is situated in the South-West part of Oltenia, on the left bank of the Danube, at a distance of 80 km of Drobeta-Turnu Severin, on a field.

The first church in Vrata was built in 1877, with the titular saint Sf. Voievozi. The buildings begun in 1936. It was inaugurated in 1947, with the same titular saint, Sf. Voievozi.
