Vedea is a commune located in the South-West part of Giurgiu County, at a distance of about 21 km to the Town Giurgiu, on the National Road DN 5C Giurgiu – Zimnicea. It was attested since 1582, in a document written by the king Mihnea cel Rau.

The main activities of the inhabitants are agriculture, which represents the basis of the local economy, animal raising, cultivation of vegetables, forestry, bee keeping and fishing.

Main touristic objectives:

  • The church „Apostol Asachi¨, built in 1857, painted by Gheorghe Tattarascu
  • The church „Sfantul Pantelimon”
  • “Dr. Asache” manor house
  • “Crucea de piatra”
  • The town hall, certified as a historical monument
