The commune Nasturelu is situated in the county Teleorman, in the point where Campia Romana meets Lunca Dunarii. It includes two villages, Nasturelu and Zimnicele, being the second southernmost point after the town Zimnicea. It is situated at a distance of 8 km from Zimnicea and 2 km from the bank of the Danube. The commune is crossed by the river Vedea.
The settlement dates from the year 1830 and was formed around a manor house.
The main occupation of the locals is the cultivation of cereals, vegetables growing and animal raising.
Main touristic objectives:
- The monastery „Sf. Nicolae”, raised on the place of an old farm.
- The natural reservation „Ostrovul Gasca”, held in custody by the Forest Administration in Alexandria. The vegetation is mainly composed by willows (75%), and the fauna mainly by the wild boar.
- The natural reservation „Ostrovul Nasturelu”, situated in the middle of the Danube.

- Annual festivity of the village – in Palm Sunday
