Ianca commune is situated in the South-West of the county, in the Danube plain, at a distance of 125 km from Slatina and 26 km from Corabia, the nearest town. It is linked to Slatina by the National Road Calarasi-Corabia and the National Road Corabia-Slatina. It is boarded by the Danube in the South. From an administrative point of view, it includes the villages Ianca – the residence of the commune, and Potelu.
The main occupation of the inhabitants of Ianca is fishing, farming, vegetable growing and viticulture.
