          The village is situated on the bank of the former lake Potelu in the Southern part of the country, and in the South-West of Olt county. The relief consists of dunes, terraces and the Danube Meadow. It is bordered to the North by Urzica commune, to the North-West with by Vadastrita commune, to the East by Ianca, Potelu village, to the North-West with Stefan cel Mare, and to the East with Gura Padinii Commune.
The first documentary attestation of the village dates from July 15th 1545, in Mircea Shepherd charter in Slavonic.
The village is situated in the plain area, and the main occupation of the locals is viticulture and farming. The locals are trying to find investors in order to re-establish the organic crops.

Main touristic objectives:

  •  The Church with two titular saints „Sfantul Gheorghe Decapolit” and „Sfantul Haralambie” -1863
