The village Gaujani is situated in the South-West part of Giurgiu county, in the border with the county Teleorman, at a distance of 30 km to the town Giurgiu and at the same distance to the town Zimnicea, on the National Road DN 5C. It administrates three smaller villages: Cetatuia, Gaujani, and Pietrisu.

At the end of the village, on the middle terrace of the river Pasarea, various settlements from the 3rd - 4th centuries and from the 9th-10th century. Furthermore, in the place called “Valea lui Gutu Gheorghe”, a settlement from the Bronze Age was discovered. Further, a settlement from the first Iron Age were discovered and also one from the 3rd and 4th century. In the place called “Canalul Mare”, other settlements from the the 3rd - 4th centuries and from the 9th-10th century were discovered, and also a feudal settlement from the 15th century.

In the village Pietrisu there is a Church, “Cuvioasa Paraschiva” which was built in 1882 and was declared a historical monument.

The main activity of the inhabitants is the cultivation of technical plants, a surface of 45 hectares of the village being covered with Morus trees, used for silk culture.
