Geographical location: the Crucea Commune is sited in the north-west of the Constanta County, 54 km far from the Constanta Municipality and along the DN2A national road, as the main connection of the County with the other regions of the country. The constituent villages of the Crucea Commune are the Crucea Village, seat of the Commune, the Galbiori, Baltagesti, Stupina, Crisan and Siriu Villages.

The written documents that attest the existence of the settlement are as old as 1738. The Baltagesti Village is marked on a Russian map under the name of "Baltazesc". Beginning with 1790 the Village is also marked on the Austrian maps, under the name of "Baltajesti", and in 1828 is marked under the name of Baltodj on the map of Walachia, Bulgaria and Rumelia drawn by Major General Hotov.

Specific occupations: Agriculture (vegetable growing), Animal husbandry, Fishing, Trade, Production of dairy products

Tourist attractions: Manastirea ‘Sfanta Cruce’ (the Holy Cross Convent) established on 1 July 2005 and the construction of the church started in August the same year. Built of wood, in Maramuresan style, the ecclesiastical establishment was completed in 2007. The convent is 4 km far from the Constanta – Harsova national road and is sited in the proximity of a spring called “Izvorul Tamaduirii” (“the Healing Spring”) which has become the celebration day of the convent.

Local events: Celebration of the Healing Spring Day, ‘Caloianul’ custom (a custom practiced during drought for bringing rain), winter feasts, Christmas carols
