Calarasi is situated in south of the county Dolj, between the Towns Bechet and Dabuleni, at a distance of 1 km from Dabuleni, 7 km from Bechet,40 km from Corabia and 72 km from Craiova. The commune Calarasi includes the village with the same name, and the village Sarata.
The main occupation of the locals is agriculture, especially the cultivation of watermelons and potatoes, cereals, but also trade and animal raising.
Main touristic objectives: The church with two titular saints, „Sfantul Nicolae” and „Adormirea maicii Domnului”, built in 1820.
