Geographic location: Borcea is a commune located in the Calarasi County. It has been established as a result of the Romania administrative-territorial re-organization in 1968, encompassing a single village (Borcea).
The Borcea commune area is located on the left shore of the Danube river: Borcea Branch.
The archeological discoveries developed within the commune habitation area revealed material traces since the III-IV centuries before Christ (pottery, Macedonian amphora and a silver drahma issued by Histria Citadel), over which many typical getic-dacian traces have been overlapped.
Touristic objectives: Many tourists visit the town, especially for the hunting and fishing opportunities, and also for the relaxation opportunities offered by water strolling or by the surrounding forests.
Casa Vanatorului located within the dyke precincts, assures multiple specific alternatives, accompanied by undiscovered gastronomic services. On the left side shore of Borcea Branch when leaving the commune, there is the forest and also a beach which, in a short time, will be arranged in view to offer to the commune inhabitants ad not only, an entertainment point.
Most traditions conserved over the years are specific o the religious fests. Representative fests for the area are: Mosii de Iarna, Mosii de vara, the Christmas Carrols, Boboteaza (the Epiphany).
Borcea Pound assures many hunting and fishing opportunities.
Saint Nicolae Church built within 1864-1868 is located in the commune of Borcea.
