Vardim is a village in Svishtov Municipality (10 km east of Svishtov along the Danube), part of Veliko Tarnovo District.

The village was firstly mentioned in written documents in 1783, but there are evidences that it was inhabited since the times of Thracians in the Antiquity. The height of the river banks over Yantra and Danube insured good visibility around. The coins found from that time are dated between the third and fourth decade of the 4th century AD. There are also evidences that the city continued to exist in 8th century, already within the First Bulgarian State: the main street was about 115 m long and 7 m wide, there are remains of large buildings, dwellings etc.

Тhe Danubian Vardim Island is situated near the village. This is the third largest island in Bulgaria (after Kozloduy and Belene islands). It is neighbored by two smaller islands known as Smaller Vardim Island and Haydushki Island. One protected zone „Island Vardim” (1167.55 ha) and one protected site „Stariat dab” (86.3 ha) (floodplain ecosystem) are declared as ornithological areas (21 protected bird species) of national importance. Vardim is a major launching point for tourist expeditions for bird watching during the summer.

The village intends to develop eco, cultural, historical, wine and sports tourism. The plans are to build a yacht port and to organize bike competitions.
