Marten is a town in the municipality of Ruse, North Central Region of Bulgaria. It is situated at 11 km from the district and municipal centre – the city of Ruse.

Marten is famous with the situated nearby ruins of the Tegra roman castle, founded in the end of first century begining of second century A.D. as a part of the Roman Danubian limes.The castle was destroyed in the 6-th century by the avars and slaves.

Marten has a secondary school since 1870. Cultural monument is the church „St. George”, built in 19 century.

In the neighbourhood of the settlement there is a meteorite crater.

The proximity of the district centre specifies the economic situation of Marten –over  50% index of the economic activity. Also, some cultural and traditional customs events incl. annual events, are organized jointly by Ruse and Marten.
