Zebegény is situated in the Curve of the Danube, at the left bank of the river, along route 12. Its railway station is located on the Budapest-Szob line. Ferries operate to Visegrád from the harbour of the neighbouring Nagymaros. The settlement is a popular tourist and holiday destination. A marked footpath leads from the railway station to the mountains lying north of the village. The local natural treasures are displayed along the Sunflower study pathway. It is worth to pay a visit to the rock sanctuary at the foot of the Kálvária Hill. The cave was inhabited by a hermit, who carved a relief onto the wall of the cave. The relief depicts the crowning of Virgin Mary. At the top of the Kálvária Hill we can find a chapel, a lookout tower, a national flag and a monument ensemble. The victims of Zebegény during the First World War are symbolised by ten crosses. In the middle of the graveyard a double life-size bronze head of Jesus Christ was mounted on a stone pillar.
The Roman Catholic church of the settlement was constructed between 1908 and 1910 in secessionist style. The designs of the building and the interior are the work of Károly Kós, Dénes Györgyi and Béla Janszky. The result was an extraordinary masterpiece. The István Szőnyi Memorial Museum displays the works of the greatest painter of the Danube landscape. The Museum is installed in the former home and atelier of the artist. The collection comprises of the painter’s impressionist and post-impressionist works and graphics. Szőnyi István street No. 9 houses the Sailing History exhibition (Hajózástörténeti Kiállítás) of captain Vince Farkas. The village welcomes visitors with youth hostel, three-star hotel and restaurants.
