Tököl is located on the Csepel-island, at a distance of 10 km from the 21st district of the capital. The city grown together with Szigethalom is crossed through the suburban train line leading to Ráckeve. The ferry line between Tököl and Százhalombatta circles every hour between sunrise and sunset. The town is a settlement of nationality type, where also Croatian, German and Serbian self-governments operate.

Even before World War II there was a runway next to the town. The Tököl Airport was operated by the Soviets from 1945 until 1990 with military purposes, it has been open to public transport since 2001. The airfield is the exercise area for Hungarian aerobatics pilots and several undertakings deal with pilot training and organising flight courses. Scenic flights departing from here cover the area of the capital, the Curve of the Danube and Esztergom usually.

The Tököl Community Centre organises a number of events in the town, including the Tököl Riding Days (Tököli Lovasnapok) at the Market Square (Vásártér), the three-day Tököl Wine Festival (Tököli Borfesztivál), “Juniális” (June) Festival and the Vine Harvest Days (Szüreti Napok). The most significant programme however is the nearly ten-day event called Summerfest, which is organised together with Ráckeve and Százhalombatta. One of Europe’s best known folklore festivals is attended by groups from all over Europe and even from South America. The Tököl Southern-Slavonian Nationality Dance Ensemble also gives performance at the event.

A horse farm operates in the city, where apart from keeping horses at livery, also horse trainings and riding camps are organised. We can go on a horse-riding trip along the fascinating riverside of the settlement, but if we prefer cycling, we can ride the bike on the dike until Makád and further all the way to Ráckeve. The anglers’ pond called Varsányi tó located between the airport and the Great Danube (Nagy Duna) expects its visitors.
