Szigetújfalu is bordered to Szigetszentmárton in the middle part of Csepel-island. By public transportation we can approach the settlement by Volán bus or by the suburban train of line Ráckeve (Ráckevei-HÉV). By vehicle we can access the village the earliest by turning from highway M0, than driving in Csepel-island to the South, from Transdanubia by ferry at Abony, from Kiskunság through the bridge at Ráckeve.

Near to the ferry harbour of Szigetújfalu at low water-level the ruins of such Benedictine, Carthusian and Cistercian cloisters may be seen, which stood along the Danube formerly. According to the local legend King Ladislaus the Second made a farewell from his wife, Mária here before the fateful battle in Mohács. After expulsion of the Turkish conquerors the entire Csepel-island became the ownership of Eugene Savoyai. The Duke settled Germans to the left villages, thus also to Szigetújfalu. Since then in the settlement native Germans are living in a considerable proportion, which have nationality dancing ensemble and a chamber choir. The guest-house of the village of a capacity of 30 persons was renewed by the help of its twin city in Germany (Waghausel). The close relationship between the two settlements is reflected also in the events. During summers beer events, nationality programs and street festivals entertain the inhabitants and the visitors.
