Madocsa is situated in Tolna County, at a distance of 15 km from Dunaföldvár, and 12 km from Paks. on the right side of the Danube, on the highest point of the flood plain. By car it is accessible by long-distance road 6. The closest railway station is at a distance of 5 km from the centre of the settlement. The pride of the village is its reformed church in very well-preserved state, built in the beginning of the 1800ies, on fundaments from the 12th century. In the walls of the tower of the church built in late baroque style you can still see carved stones from the Arpadian age.

Grape-growing on this territory dates back to the Roman times. By the middle ages, wine-making lost its importance: it was revived by the German settlers only. Although from the point of public administration it belongs to Bölcske, the 136 ha of grapes are cultivated by farmers from Madocsa. There is a wine competition in the village each year where the competitors must present three types of wine: white, red and mellow. The festive announcement of results takes place on the International Women’s Day and Wine Tasting Bal. The Village Fest takes place at some time around 20 August, with the halászlé (a special Hungarian fish-soup) cooking competition being its central event. The Madocsa branch of the Danube is very rich in fish, so it is ideal for anglers. The rolling river arriving here forms island and floods the dead channels.
