Lórév is situated in the south-eastern part of the Csepel Island, nearby „Nagy-Duna ág” (the central branch of the Danube). From dawn to sunset there is ferry connection between Lórév and Adony. The predominant part of the population of the village is of Serbian origin, but there are Hungarian and Bulgarian inhabitants, too. The Lórév section of Danube bank is a popular destination of excursions, and those who go for rowing on the river have it as their favourite resting stop, as well.

Crossing the Danube always played an important part in the life of the village. In its outer administrative area wall remains from the Roman age were found, which were probably part of the Roman limes protecting the frontiers of the colony. The remains of ships from the period between the 1st and 3rd centuries found on the shelves of Danube also witness that there was a Roman harbour here. Thanks to easy crossing, following the conquest of today’s territory of Hungary by the Hungarian tribes large quantities of animals were regularly moving through the territory. The name Lórév (translation: crossing point for horses) also suggests that horses must have been here.

The Zichy Memorial Chapel, arranged in a romantic environment, is a real architectural and historical peculiarity. It was erected in 1859 by the imperial dynasty for the memory of the execution of  ZICHY Ödön. The chapel in romantic and Neo-gothic style with beautiful rosettes and stonework was built of red bricks.

Another place of interest in the village is its woods in the flood plain enjoying protection afforded by the municipality. There are more than 30 protected bird species (such as  hoopoe,  fire-tail) and several protected amphibians and reptiles living here. If you are a little lucky, you can see egret, common heron, stork and also common buzzard. Beside the diverse fauna, a valuable flora is hidden in the woods, with such plants being frequent here as wild hyacinth snow-flake, and black cockspur (thorn-bush).
