Kölked is situated in the south-eastern part of Baranya County, near the Croatian frontiers. The village is accessible from the direction of Mohács by road 56. The frontier station of Udvar is at a distance of 10 km only. The village was populated already in the Roman age: there was a settlement called Altinum here the population of which lived on fishing. To preserve the village scape, the local government declared 30 dwelling houses close to the Reformed church monuments of village scape and, thus, protected..
Kölked is one of the centres of the Danube-Drava National Park. By previous appointment you can see the rare bird, game, insect and plant species of the region. The flat terrain is an ideal place for excursions and biking, and there are well-maintained built biking routes of more than 30 km in, and in the vicinity of the village. South-eastwards of Kölked there is an angling paradise built from the dead channels of Danube. The biggest fish you can find in the angling pond divided into five parts are catfish and pike. It is not only fish but also game that the region is rich in. The nearby Béda-Karapancsa hunting field offers also accommodation and food.
The village has an establishment, the White Stork Museum, which is unique of its kind. It introduces the various species of this stilt, as well as the flora and fauna of the region. The wandering route of storks is presented by electronic diorama. In the small exhibition hall of the museum there are regular educational programs, and creative and other programs for families or children.
