Kimle is situated on the two banks of the Moson Branch of Danube. It consists of three parts: Magyarkimle, Horvátkimle and Novákpuszta, the three of which were united in 1966. The village is accessible on Highway  M1, by turning off either at Lébény or Mosonmagyaróvár. The closest railway station is at Károlyháza, at a distance of one and a half kilometres. Inhabitants of Slav origin live in the village for several hundred years. From secure sources we know only that settlers were brought in the 18th century. A little later came the Germen settlers from Bavaria, who by 1800 formed half of the population of the village.  The names of Kimle in Croatian and German sound as Kemlja, and Kimling, respectively. If you happen to visit Kimle, you should visit the church of Magyarkimle, certain parts of which originate from the 13th century. A statue of the Saint Trinity stands in front of the church built in baroque style. The church of Horvátkimle, dedicated to Saint Michael as its patron, got its today’s shape in 1780. There is an obelisk standing nearby the church which was erected for the memory of those who died from among the villagers in World War 2. The statue of King Béla IV was put on the bank of the Moson Branch of the-Danube in 2001, for the 450th anniversary of the settlement by him of Croatian settlers in Hungary.

The folk traditions in the village are strong and alive, and some just now start to revive, such as rattling in the Passion Week, “lucázás” (folk custom on St. Lucy’s day  accompanied by singing (fertility charms festival)), and saying farewell to the old year. Beside this, the Borbala charms of the Croatian minority are a very special folk tradition that has raised the interests of many folklore researchers.  According to this tradition, on 3 December, women dressed in white visit the children of the village, give them presents and, wishing them  good health, bless them. The neighbourhood of the village is a popular place of excursions. There are two camping sites in the village and in one of them canoe and kayak can be hired. Anglers can try their luck here too, as the village has two angling ponds, which were at a time gravel mines. The village organizes each year  the Water Carnival: as part of it, they illuminate the bank of the Moson Branch of Duna and the bridge over the river by oil lampions. The central event of the Carnival is the boat beauty competition and boar riding.
