Károlyháza is a tiny settlement at a distance of 1 km from the bank of the Moson Section of the Danube. It is surrounded by the Szigetköz Landscape Protection Zone, and the Fertő-Hanság National Park. It can be accessed from long-distance road 1 or by Highway M1. The village has its own railway station. It was already populated when the Hungarian tribes conquered the territory of today’s Hungary. By all probabilities, it got its name from that of the owner of the Magyaróvár Manor, in the 19th century , Archduke Charles. In 1956, Károlyháza still belonged to Mosonmagyaróvár. Three years later, in 1959 it was administratively merged into Horvátkimle. On 30 September 1966 Magyarkimle and Horvátkimle merged, and until it regained its independence, Károlyháza was a populated outer administrative area of Kimle. On 20 October 2002 the above settlement parts became an independent settlement under the name “Károlyháza”.
