The settlement is situated 10 km north-west of Győr, between Győrzámoly and Dunaszeg. The bikeway connecting Győr and Mosonmagyaróvár passes across the village. According to the folk traditions, the settlement got its name from Lodomér, Archbishop of Esztergom. The village started to develop in the second half of the 20th century, something attributable to the vicinity of Győr and the romantic environment.

Lake Nádas and Somos woods belong to the Szigetköz Landscape Protection Zone.  The dead channel is a favourite destination of hikers. The woods are famous for the bunch-berries and the four kinds of orchids growing here. There is a boat harbour and a free beach on the bank of the Moson Branch of the Danube in the settlement. These two attract many who like boat tours. There is an opportunity for angling on the Szavai Channel and a private angling pond at the edge of the settlement. Alongside the main street of the village there is a riding school, too.
