Göd can be found 25 km to the north from the capital, on the left bank of River Danube. It can be approached on Main Raod 2 and Expressway 2/A. Its railway station lies on the Budapest-Vác line. At its boundary two nature conservation areas can be found: Kékperjés Láprét (Marsh Meadow with Purple Moor Grass) and Gödi-sziget (Island of Göd). Its single monument is the Nemeskéri Curia being in a particularly nice condition and accommodating a restaurant and an art gallery. Several artists live in the city; for them Olajfa Művelődési Ház (Oil Tree Community House) provides exhibition possibilities.
The settlement hosts a number of events. Every year in September, Szüreti Lovas Fesztivál és Bográcsfőző Verseny (Vintage Horse Festival and Kettle-cooking Competition) starts with the procession of horsemen, coaches and carriages. The participants end the procession at the lower sports field of Göd where a cooking competition, handicraft activities, sports programs and folklore performances take place. In the week following the event a Vintage Ball is held in Balázsovits Sportcsarnok (Balázsovits Sports Hall). Fétis Crossfutás és Hagyományőrző Délután (Fetish Cross Running and Tradition Preservation Afternoon) has been organised since 2000. The running competition in Kiserdő (Small Forest) of Lower Göd is completed by concerts, handicraft activities, folk dance and folk music performances. In addition, a June Festival, a kayak-canoe cup, a Fine Arts Creative Camp and an International Acoustic Guitar Festival are held in the city.
In summer, the popular Danube-bank of Göd is full of tourists. Besides bathing, the different water sports (kayaking, canoeing and rowing) are very popular but also many anglers visit the river. The horse-riding traditions of Göd are well-known all over the country because Kincsem (My Treasure), the invincible race horse, whose stable is still standing, used to live in the farm-stead of Göd from 1876 to 1880. The horse farm operating in the settlement is engaged in teaching riding and organising children's camps. They organise horse tours to the banks of the Danube and to the forest of Lower Göd.
The thermal bath of the city operates all through the year and in summers particularly many people enjoy its outdoor pools. One of Hungary's best golf courses is to be found in the settlement; the course has 18 holes. The facility covering more than 70 hectares lies in a nature conservation area and awaits guests with a hotel satisfying all demands and a wellness centre.
