Érsekcsanád lies in Bács-Kiskun County, in the neighbourhood of Baja. Near to the settlement located along Road 51 there are even two bridges over the Danube: Türr István Bridge (9km) of Baja and Szent László (Saint Leslie) Bridge (17 km) leading to Szekszárd. Both of them can be approached by bicycle on the cycle track constructed on the embankment along the Danube.

Presumably, Érsekcsanád was once the estate of Csanád, the younger brother of King Szent István (Saint Stephen). Due to the floods of the Danube the village changed its location several times and finally it settled at its today's place on a height next to the river in 1806. The village is decorated by trees and well-kept flower-beds. Walking in Deák Ferenc utca (Deák Ferenc Street) you can see the two most significant architectural sights of Érsekcsanád, the Calvinistic and the Catholic churches. Both buildings have been renovated and await believers in an excellent condition. The folk culture of Érsekcsanád shows relationship with Sárköz. The exhibitions furnished in the Country House and in the typical peasant house of Csanád called Tumbarikum let you have an insight in this.

In the western part of the settlement, on the banks of Duna-völgyi főcsatorna (Danube Valley Main Channel) a 4-hectare leisure park awaits guests from spring to autumn. In addition to bathing and doing sports (football, volley-ball), a number of programs, e.g. different horse competitions, archery contests and motorbike and car meetings guarantee entertainment. Each year, the programs of "Csanádi Nyár" (Summer of Csanád) are organised in the first weekend of August. Annually, 5 to 8 thousand people come to the event. At this time fish soup boils in hundreds of kettles and participants eat strudels baked in Csanád and drink fine local wines in the leisure park. For those wishing to have some active relaxation it is worth visiting the 1-2 km long Vajas-torok tanösvény (Butter-throat study path) next to the embankment of the Danube. Along the banks of the river in the settlement you can take delight in the uniquely beautiful waterside land of the Gemenc woods. The sandy and shoaly banks of the river offer bathing, angling and hunting possibilities.
