Dunavarsány lies 10 km far from the southern boundary of the capital. By car it can be approached on Road 51. Its two well-separated settlement-parts are Dunanagyvarsány developed in the era of the conquest and Dunakisvarsány having been built 120 years ago. In the past decades the town has gone through a significant development. It has two railway stations on the Budapest-Kunszentmiklós-Tass line. The settlement can be found near to the largest contiguous system of lakes in Pest County, thanks to which it has a significant tourism.

Among the lakes of Délegyháza you can find angling lakes, a lake reserved for water sports (water ski, wakeboard, kite, jet-ski) and also a water park supplied with slides and different experience elements. Those desiring to bathe, sunbathe and rest can choose from a paying and a free beach. The desert islands opposite to Nomád-part (Nomad Shore) can be discovered by rented boats or paddle boats. Guests are awaited by snack-counters, restaurants, places of entertainment, guest houses and camp sites on the shore.

The Danube also offers many interesting things for tourists. The protected 10-hectare floating marsh connected to the northern tip of Domariba-sziget (Domariba Island) is the biotope of rare plants and animals. Here you can see great crested grebes, great reed warblers and Savi's warblers, too. On the other parts of Domariba-sziget there are angling stands and nice cottages. Dunavarsányi Edzőtábor és Szálloda (Training Camp and Hotel of Dunavarsány) has been built on the branch of the Danube, where already several of our Olympic champions were preparing for their rowing races.

Walking in the town you can admire several sculptures, e.g. the one of Pope John 23rd standing in front of the Catholic church, the group representing Boldog Gizella (Blessed Giselle) and Szent Imre (Saint Henry), the sculpture in Hősök Tere (Heroes Square) and the one of Petőfi. It is also worth visiting Trianon Emlékpark (Trianon Memorial Park) opened on 4 June 2008. The most significant event of the town is Dunavarsány Days where visitors are awaited, among others, by concerts, exhibitions and a cooking competition through several days.
