Dunaszentpál can be found on the left bank of Mosoni-Duna (Danube of Moson), embraced by the river. From Győr, from where it is 15 km away, regular bus services run to the village. The village has got its name after the patron saint of its Roman Catholic church. The building was completely renovated in 2010. Dunaszentpál is one of the settlements of Szigetköz with a great past; people have lived on these terraces protected from floods since the conquest already.
The village belonged to the estate of the Héderváry counts and then to that of the Kuen, Wenckheim and Viczay families. Because of the devastation of the Turks Slovak settlers were called here in 1656. They settled in the northern part of the village. At the time of the Napoleonic wars the French army occupied Dunaszentpál. During their withdrawal the Schönbrunn proclamation announced by Napoleon was thrown into a dry well, which the locals call French well even today.
The sluggish Mosoni-Duna is an ideal place for bathing and angling. On its bank a place suitable for camping has been developed. There is an angling lake along the road leading towards Kunsziget (Kun Island), near to Bolgányi-híd (Bolgányi Bridge). Endemic fish species of the horseshoe-shaped one-hectare lake: carp, pike, catfish, crucian and bream. A boarding house and a resting house operate in the village.
