Dunaszeg is located on the left bank of one of the curves of Mosoni-Duna (Danube of Moson). It must have got its name from the projection of the river. The settlement lies 15 km northwest from the downtown of Győr. It can be approached from Road 1, from the direction of Öttevény and Kunsziget and from Road 14, from the direction of Győrújfalu. The Lébény exit of Motorway M1 is only 14 kilometres away. From Győr the settlement can be approached on a cycle track, as well.

The bank of River Danube at Dunaszeg provides an easy opportunity for water tourers to take the water. In summers many people choose the bank as a stopping place, where places for putting up tents and lighting fires and also a wonderful environment await paddlers. The upper section of Mosoni-Duna ensures more exciting and winding water touring, while in its lower section, e.g. also in the neighbourhood of Dunaszeg, the river is already calmer and more relaxing. From west the settlement is bordered by an ox-bow lake. The most valuable species of the rich flora of the still water is the creeping marshwort (Apium repens). At the eastern boundary of Dunaszeg a well-equipped angling lake awaits those wishing to angle.

The name of the settlement was first mentioned in documents at the beginning of the 15th century as the estate of the Héderváry family. In the course of centuries the settlement changed hands many times. At the beginning of the 18th century the Viczay family had a baroque-style church built in the village, which now can be found at Fő utca 17. The large altar-piece of the church depicts Saint Barbara. 50 metres from here, in Kegyeleti Park (Park of Piety), a well-kept ensemble of hundreds-of-years-old marble and sandstone grave-markers can be seen. In the Village Museum the historical and ethnographical exhibition of the village and its neighbourhood can be viewed. In the building behind the museum the Stabilmotor Gyűjtemény (Stabile Motor Collection) can be found. The industry historical exhibition presents internal combustion engines of 50 to 100 years of age that were once used in pumps, saws and different agricultural machines. Next to the Catholic church the so-called sand-pit "small picture" is also under monumental protection. On the wayside shrines expressly typical of Szigetköz the pictures of saints are placed. On the one of Dunaszeg the pictures of Flórián, Vendel, Barbara and the Snowy Blessed Virgin can be seen.
