Dunakeszi lies 15 north from Budapest, along Main Road 2. This is where the single interim station of the first railway line of Hungary was between the capital and Vác. Today the line reaches up to Sturovo, Slovakia. The town is connected with a frequent ferry services with Horány of Szentendrei-sziget (Szentendre Island). The most popular cycle track starts from Dunakeszi; along this track, following the line of Dunakanyar (Curve of the Danube) we can reach even Nagymaros. In summer many people walk on the esplanade of the town running along the bank of the river and visit its restaurants.

In Alag, belonging to Dunakeszi, a 120-year-old horse race track and training centre operate. The single race-horse training centre of Hungary was established in 1890 according to the wish of Count Széchenyi István, president of Magyar Lovas Egylet (Hungarian Horse Riders' Association). The race track and training centre built with the participation of English engineers were among the most advanced establishments of their age. Horse riding traditions are preserved with pride even today and those desiring to ride a horse are always welcome here, although no races have been organised lately. In the neighbourhood of the horse race track there is a grassy runway and landing path. At the sports airport three clubs await the lovers of flying sports.

The settlement can boast of even several churches, out of which the largest one is the Szent Mihály (St. Michael) church built in neo-baroque style. Its two steeples have towered over the town already for 250 years. By turning off Fő út to Béke út you can find the Jézus Szíve (Heart of Jesus) church, which is also a beautiful sight. The neighbouring streets comprise the Műhelytelep (Workshop Yard) Quarter radiating a special atmosphere with its art-nouveau buildings erected in the 1920's. In the middle of the quarter stands József Attila Művelődési Ház (József Attila Community Centre) hosting the exhibitions and cultural events of the town. It is worth visiting the Szent Imre (St. Henry) church, too, whose major sight is its steeple covered with Zsolnay tiles.
