The village lies on the right bank of the Danube, at the northern limbs of the Gerecse Mountains. The nearest towns are Tata (8km) and Komárom (15km). The settlement is a one-hour drive by car both from Budapest and Győr. It can be reached on Main Road 10 or on Road 1, by turning off to Main Road 10 at Almásfüzitő. Its railway station is located on the Komárom-Esztergom line. Its eastern neighbour, Neszmély, broke off from Dunaalmás in 1991. On the slopes of the village looking at the Danube grapes grow, out of which excellent wines are produced by the local large plants and family businesses.

Dunaalmás has been inhabited since the ancient times. The Romans established a settlement with the name Asaum next to the limestone quarry to be found here and, later on, they erected a bathing house, too, over the hot spring of the village. The Romans constructed a road leading to the mine to be found in the Gerecse Mountains, part of which road is still viable. This was the road along which the slaves were carrying the stones for the construction of Brigettio (today: Szőny) but, later on, limestone was also transported from here for the fortresses of Komárom. It is worth viewing the Catholic church of the village built in the 18th century and being under monumental protection. In the yard of the Calvinist church built in Gothic style the monument of the Zsitvatorok Peace Treaty can be seen. The venue of the conclusion of peace closing the 15-year war was Dunaalmás and Zsitvatő, locaed on the opposite bank of the Danube. Vajda Júlia, the love of Csokonai Vitéz Mihály, called Lilla by the poet in his poems, lived in the village. Literature lovers especially prefer visiting Csokonai Művelődési Ház (Csokonai Community Centre) built on the place where once the house of Vajda Júlia stood. The exhibition awaits visitors with a literature and local historical collection.

In the settlement, next to Main Road 10, there is a riding school. The family business awaits those desiring to relax with guest-friendly horses. Visitors can try, among others, tour riding, travelling in a horse carriage, archery and pottery. The owners organise visits to restaurants and cellars, as well. The settlement organises more than a hundred cultural events each year, e.g. the Carnival, Locsolóbál (Sprinkling Ball), the Day of Poetry and the Vintage Procession. A special natural value of Dunaalmás is Kis-sziget (Little Island) bordered by the Danube and Által-ér (Által Brook), which is a favourite place of those living in Dunaalmás and water tourers resting here. The island is frequently visited by anglers, too. On its western side the walls of a medieval mill rise.
