Darnózseli lies in Közép-Szigetköz (Mid-Szigetköz), 4 km away from Öreg-Duna (Old Danube) and 3 km from Mosoni-Duna (Moson Danube). It can be approached by turning off Motorway M1 at Lébény and Road 1 at Kimle. Officially, the village was established in 1934 through the unification of Mosondarnó and Zseli. Its first chapel was built by landlord Lőrinc Héderváry at the highest part of the village, in the cemetery. The one-bayed Catholic church built in baroque style was consecrated in 1703. In order to express their togetherness, the inhabitants of the two villages urged building a new church instead of the old one damaged by flood and fire. The neo-Gothic church standing in the main street of the village was handed over in 1930. In the 19th and 20th centuries Darnózseli was a smaller centre of the Jewish population of the neighbourhood as they even had a cemetery and a synagogue there. A memory wall reminds of those deported in 1944. The so-called "French Pillar" was erected by relatives in commemoration of an officer having served in the army of Napoleon.

In the settlement there are several families engaged in village tourism. It is worth visiting the programs of the village made more colourful by its local folk customs and the performances of Szigetköz Táncegyüttes (Szigetköz Dance Ensemble) being famous both abroad and here at home. In the school of the village a permanent local historical exhibition can be visited. The village is an excellent starting spot for the angling and excursion places of Öreg-Duna and Mosoni-Duna.
