Baracs is located in Fejér county, just a few kilometres southwest of the city of Dunaújváros. It is accessible via Motorway M6 and Main Road 6. Originally a cluster of farmhouses and pastures, the settlement only emerged as a village during the early 20th century. Right outside the village, the earth castle of Annamatia has preserved many Roman relics. Other important archaeological finds include remnants of a church and cemetery dating back to the Árpád Era (1000-1301).

The public administration border of the village stretches all the way to the River Danube. The river-bank has a row of summer houses built in a beautiful, peaceful environment. Baracs has a fish restaurant and pension of good reputation and quality standards. The house specialties include Hungarian fisherman’s soup prepared in a large kettle over an open outdoor fire and carp stew. The Village House has a sports hall and a performing arts hall inviting the audiences of both community and cultural programmes. The most prominent cultural programme is the Baracs Folk Dance Festival, attracting competitors from wide and far. Prizes are awarded in three categories: children’s ensembles, adults’ ensembles, and solo performances. In Kleinpuszta, a pasture just in the outskirts of Baracs, a one hectare lake offers avid anglers a peaceful, rural environment for enjoying their relaxing hobby.
