Obid is a village in Slovakia in the district of Nové Zámky, located in the southeastern part of the Danube plain, on the left bank of the Danube, near the border to Hungary. It lies 7 km west of Štúrovo. The village is easily accessible from Štúrovo with suburban services. The nearest railway station is in Štúrovo, 5 km away.
The town Štúrovo does not administer the village Obid anymore. It is known for a remarkable find of silver Celtic coins from the 1st century BC, as well as the burial place and settlement of the Carpathian Barrow Culture. The village was first mentioned in 1237 when the yeomen living here guarded the castle of Hlohovec. The settlement owned the Chapter of Esztregom. In the years 1542 and 1663 it was sacked by the Turks. The medieval village of Obid lies nearer to the Danube channel and the villages were farmers, vintners and fishermen.
Sights:

There are pubs and food shops in the village.
