Medveďov is a village in Rye Island, in southwestern Slovakia, in the district of Dunajská Streda. It lies on the Danube Plain, on the left bank of the Danube, 26 km south of Dunajská Streda and 11 km southwest of Veľký Meder. The village is easily accessible from Veľký Meder with suburban services. The nearest railway station is in Veľký Meder, 12 km away.

One of the options how to get from Slovakia to Hungary through the Danube is on the Danube bridge, which is located next to the village.

The past of the village is connected with the Danube. The river branched here into uncountable arms, separated from each other by sand islands and shallows.

The first reference to the village is from 1252 when it was mentioned as villa Medwe and Bratislava Castle owned it. In the 17th century Medveďov belonged to the Chapter of Győr. Beyond the settlement was an island called Cholera, as it was the place where the sick were moved until the 19th century.

The villagers were living on farming, haulage and milling.

Sights:

-      The Roman Catholic church of St. Anna from 1737. After a fire in 1855 it was renowned. The Neo-Classical building has a single nave sacred space with chance.

-      In the administrative territory of the village is the Nature Reserve of Opatovské jazierko lake with a floodplain forest, which contains protected plants and wildlife species.

There are pubs and food shops in the village.
