Kalinkovo is a village in Rye Island, in southwestern Slovakia, in the district of Senec. It is 17 km far from the capital, Bratislava. It is situated between the villages Dunajská Lužná and Hamuliakovo. The southwestern part of the village is next to the banks of the Water works of Gabčíkovo. The village is easily accessible from Bratislava with suburban services. The nearest railway station is in Dunajská Lužná, 7 km away.

Its existence was confirmed for the first time in 1288 when it belonged to Bratislava Castle. It is known under various historic names, for example: Scemet, Zemeth, Zemety and the present name Kalinkovo, used since 1948.

In the 15th century it was the property of the Counts of Svätý Jur and Pezinok, later it was included in the Eberhard estate. It was often flooded. The villagers lived on farming and gardening.

The closeness of the reservoir in Water works Gabčíkovo and the pleasant environment changes the agricultural community into a  suburban recreation area of the capital, Bratislava, whose locals want to find relaxation and recreation possibilities. There is a tourist cycle route built on the dam with tourist signs. By the Danube there is a small beach. This is an ideal place for the development of water sports( windsurfing and more).

Sights:

-      Brick houses with gables and saddle roofs have survived here from the late 19th century.

-      The ruins of the Romanesque church, which disappeared in the 1930´s are from 1260.

-      The Roman Catholic church of St. Francis Seraphin represents sacred architecture from 1910. It is a historicizing building with Neo-Romanesque elements.

There are pubs and food shops in the village.
