Hamuliakovo is a village in Rye Island, in southwestern Slovakia, in the district of Senec. It lies on the Danube Plain, on the left side of the Danube Water Work Gabčíkovo, 20 km south from Bratislava. The village is easily accessible from Bratislava with suburban services. The nearest railway station is in Dunajská Lužná, 9 km away.

The first reference to this village is from 1222 as Gutt. This name comes from an old yeoman family Gutturi, the village was better known as Gútor (German Guttern). The village suffered a lot from floods, for instance those in 1679, 1809, 1862 and 1928. The villagers lived on farming, fishing and milling. Fishing disappeared only in the 1950´s.

The village Hamuliakovo is almost ideal for sports. Even the location of the village creates excellent conditions for sports. Besides cycling on the international cycling track Passau-Komárno, and the national Senec-Hamuliakovo (between Čuňovo and Hamuliakovo a ferry is operated for the cyclotourists), there are ideal conditions for skating, running, soccer, volleyball, tennis, squash and hockey. Multifunctual gym, hockey rink and a sports hall provides possibilities for everyone.

Traditional events in Hamuliakovo are the Rag, the Village Day (early June), Feast (early August) and the vintage festival.

Sights:

-      The Roman Catholic church of the Holy Cross from 13th century. It is one of the most important brick Romanesque sacred buildings in Slovakia. Its present appearance is the result of repeated reconstructions in the period of Baroque and in the 19th and 20th centuries.

-      Hamuliakovo, as a typical yeoman village used to have numerous curias and manor houses. Only two curias survived.

There are restaurants, pubs, buffets and food shops in the village.
