Rusovce is a part of the city of Bratislava on the right bank of the Danube, south of Petržalka in district V. Rusovce is the largest part of Bratislava south of Petržalka. It has a character of a small town. Part of the city is easily accessible from Bratislava via public transport. The settlement has a railway station.

On this territory was in the 2nd – 4th century the Roman Gerulata located. Today there is an exposure there. Originally the separate village Rusovce was first mentioned in 1266. In the Middle Ages, many Croatians immigrated here. In the late 19th century, all the inhabitants were Germans (probably Germanized Croatians). In 1918, Rusovce together with Jarovce and Čunovo had not became the part of Czechoslovakia, but left with Hungary. In 1947 it was attached to Czechoslovakia and in 1971 to the city of Bratislava.

Traditional events in Rusovce is the Mayalis festival and Day of Rusovce.

Sights:

-      Nature Reserve Danube islands. Reservation is on two islands: the Upper and Lower Sihot, located in the area between the derivative and the main flow channel of the Danube. When walking in the reservation there can be beavers seen, several species of amphibians and many birds.

-      The most important historical monument is Rusovce Castle, rebuilt in the 2nd half of the 19th century in the so-called Windsor style, with an English park. At present it is closed to the public.

-      Church of St. Vit and Modesto is on the outskirts of park. It was built in 1613 in Renaissance style. In the second half of the 19th century it was rebuilt in neo-Roman style.

-      Church of St. Mary Magdalene dates from 1662. Its construction was applied in the early Baroque style of modern time. The main wooden altar of Mary Magdalene is from the mid-17th century.

-      Youngest sacral building of the village is the Lutheran Church. The original church building was built in the 20-ies of the 19th century and received its present form in 1904.

-      The ancient history of Rusovce can be learnt about by visiting the City Museum exhibition - Museum of antiquity - Gerulata (open May - September).

In Rusovce there is a hotel with restaurants, pubs and cafeterias.
