Baka is a village in Rye Island, in southwestern Slovakia, in the district of Dunajská Streda. It lies on the Danube Plain, on the left side of the Danube Water Work Gabčíkovo, 13 km southwest of Dunajská Streda. The village is easily accessible from Bratislava and Dunajská Streda with suburban services. The nearest railway station is in Dunajská Streda, 13 km away.
The village of Baka was mentioned for the first time in 1274 as the settlement of the royal court chamberlains of Bratislava Castle and a property of the Buken family.
Then in 1445 it was mentioned as two settlements of Dolná and Horná Baka, which existed until 19th century on the bank of the Čiliz brook. The settlements joined in 1810.
Several noble families owned the village. The local people were farmers and raised cattle, horses and sheep.
