Batin is a village in the central part of North Bulgaria in the municipality of Borovo, district Ruse. The distance to the district centre Ruse is 35 km and to the municipal centre Borovo 30 km. The distance to the university town Svishtov is 34 km, to the capital Sofia - 262 km, and to the Black Sea port Varna - 223 km. There are regular bus connections Ruse – Batin and Dve mogili – Batin. The village is situated on the bank of the Danube river, in the eastern part of the Danube valley. Moderate continental climate with dry and hot summers and severe winters characterize the place. The village is well developed and with the necessary communication networks. It is an agricultural region where the sheep breeding is prevailing.

Just opposite the village the Batin island is situated – the second largest island in the Bulgarian Danubian stream. It is a part of the ornithological area “Ribarnitsite Mechka” situated on the territory of a former large riverside marshland with area of 445 ha. There are 177 bird species living there, 62 of them listed in the Red book of Bulgaria. The beautiful riverside offers good touristic potential – vacations combining beaches with hunting and fishing, as well as birds and animals watching. About 11 km away from the village, Yantra river is running, offering canoeing and kayaking. The cycling route Ruse-Belene passes by the village.
