Vinca village is famous for one of the most impotant acheologic.excavations in Europe. Professor Miloje Vasic started esearch in 1908 at the location of Belo brdo along the Danube river, and at a depth of 10m he found a neolite settlement. This settlement was founded in 5500 years BC, while 80 % of archeologic foundings dated back to the eriod between 5250 and 4250 BC. Arcehologists believe taht a settlemenst which existed in the territory of Vinca was a center of civilization from Carpathians on the North to Skopje valley on the South, and from the Bosna river on the West to Sofian field on the East. At more than 6000 locations in this zone similar findings to those  in Vinča were found what indicates that thez belonged to one homogene pat. Therefore, this neolite civilization got the name Vinca culture according to its centre.

Excavations which were renewed in 1978 and headed by Archeologica Resesarch centre from Vinca which belongs to serbian Academy of Science and Art last up to nowadays. Nevertheless, it is considered that excavations and research ae accomplished only 40 per cent of he total surface. Findings show that it was an urban settlement with arranged houses and streets. Main activities were agriculture and cattle-breeding while surplus of products promoted trade development. Tools made of bone , horn and stone are samples of real perfection. Fish-hooks, harpoons and fish net weights are extremely interesting and testify on lives of ancient fishermen on the Danube. Ceramic vessels have special use and great artistic value.

Next to the archeological finding there is arranged collection of exponents open for public.
