Rаm is a settlement in the municipality of Veliko Grаdište in Brаničevo District of Serbia. The town developed around the fortification of the same name.It was known in the Roman times as Lederata.  The Albocense inhabited the area in the 2nd century AD. According to the 2002 census. there were 294 people (according to 1991 census. there were 359 inhabitants)

Above Ram there are preserved remains of the Roman fortification Lederate, from 1st century AD, as well as the Turkish fortress from the 15th century with walls that dominate on the right bank. According to archeologists’ findings, it is here that the emperor Trayan placed a pantone bridge while forcing Danube. In the Danube sand even today one can find amours, shields  and some parts of arms and equipment belonged to the Roman legionnaires.

Ram is mentioned in the beginning of the 15th century when it is ruled by the Serbian Despots and exposed to constant Turkish aggression and invasion of the Hungarians. The Turks at the end of the 15th century penetrate into Danube region, and the writer recorded that Mehmed Pasha came to Danube and built two cities Hram and Kulic. After the fall of Smederevo the Turks strengthen the fortress of Ram and give certain tax privileges to the inhabitants living along the border. The small town in the documents by which the Turkey and Hungary regulated  the trade in the area near borders is mentioned as Haram- Ram. During the 17th and 18th century Turkey and Austria, between themselves wage betties for this fortification. The rebels of Karadjordje in March 1804th managed to free Ram. The Turks are running away by ships on Danube going in the direction to Vidin.  In the end of 19th century the fortress is losing its importance.

On the coast there is a restaurant Lederate placed, next togath. Small part is exclusively for the boath with small ford. Basic grosseries can be purchased in the settlement.

From Ram to Stara Palanka, even in the ancient time, there was organized transfer by ferry. In that time it was privilege granted by the Sultans or the Prince. Ferry on the left bank entries into Danube canal at 1067,5 kilometers, which ends there.
